Everything ready to start construction of runway and terminal facilities in Maththala airport (Weerawila) from 27th this month. We don't have clear indication how sri Lankan government is funding for this project but already released money to start and finish first phase of airport project.Katunayake airport runway is now over used and it's time to replace with a new one. Runway Lighting system is very old and sometimes manually operated by a technicians. So Maththala (Weerawila) Airport is a must. New runway is 3.5km long and 76m wide and expect to land world largest passenger aircrafts such as A380.
